Reports to: Managing Director

Salary: £14,859 (£+ depending on experience) per annum pro rata

Length of Contract: 6 Months Fixed Term Contract with the possibility of full time employment

Working Hours: 9am to 5pm (May require some out of hours work)

Location: Sunderland

The position is at an up and coming vibrant IT company, working with integrity to deliver high end IT solutions & develop customised systems to benefit businesses and improve their productivity.  The company bring the best technology to the North East creating a competitive edge by working with partners such as Cisco, Avaya, Symantec and Microsoft.

Main Purpose of Role:

The company are seeking a suitably qualified engineer to join their team as a Cisco Network engineer. In this role you will be responsible for performing remote Cisco jobs and dealing with internal IT infrastructure. 

This Network Engineer role requires a candidate who is able to show the following skills, knowledge and experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computing
  • Full UK driving licence and mobility to travel to customer sites
Essential:
  • Ability to specify customer requirements
  • Confidence to consult with internal staff and customers
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) level skills
  • Broad understanding of IT networks
  • Ability to manage a Microsoft Domain infrastructure
  • Ability to manage and advise on security issues
  • A personable and customer focused approach
  • Capability to maintain customer records and update relevant documentation
  • Be able to think on the spot and adapt to business needs
  • Clear and logical thinker with a quality approach
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated but able to work as part of a team
  • Trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information
  •  A professional manner demonstrating a positive and determined approach
  • A current understanding of network design, security solutions
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Desirable:
  • Cisco Professional Certificate would be an advantage

Special Circumstances

International graduates are welcome to apply but must be able to prove that they have the necessary legal permissions (work permits) to work in the UK for the duration of the Internship.

The Graduate Internship Scheme is collaboration between the University of Sunderland, a recent Graduate and a regional SME. The Scheme has been designed to benefit both the Graduate and the company, ensuring that the Graduate takes the first steps on the career ladder whilst the company benefits from the Graduates enthusiasm, expertise and up to date knowledge.

The Internship is a full time position for a 6 month period with the possibility of full time employment.
