I was at a conference dinner in November 2010 when a local Irish Dance troupe came on stage and performed a set of dances for the audience.
They were really good. I don't think they received a fee, but were doing it to practise performing in front of people. There was no one else recording them. I thought that as I was sitting at the front and had a good view of them, I'd record them and pass it on to their Dance club. So, here you are, the members of the Inchigeelagh O'Gorman Academy of Irish Dancing.
The conference, which was organised by the North East Irish Culture Network, was at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland. The NEICN is an academic association based at the Universities of Sunderland and Durham. They seek to promote and encourage the study and teaching of all aspects of the society, culture and literature of the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Irish Diaspora. With world wide links, they organise seminars, symposia and conferences for scholars, Ph.D. students, teachers and other interested parties as well as hosting cultural events with dance, poetry and music. There is no formal membership and all are welcome with an interest in Irish culture. They promote discussion in the community on topics of Irish interest, and promote and enhance interest in Irish studies within the North of England and beyond.
I recorded 4 different sets on my phone video and I've been meaning to upload them to YouTube for ages.
So I set up a YouTube account and created a channel. Then uploaded the 4 videos. YouTube gives you ways to edit your videos, so I lightened them up and stabilised them to get rid of any shaking.
